Information

Oz Deathmatch is a modification for Half-Life.  It is multiplayer and serverside only.   The mod came about because many server operators wanted a version of Half-Life that was super configurable.  The config file system is the main component which makes this mod tick.  It lets server admins change any number of settings without actually changing the dll.  The config files are explained more thoroughly here.

All features in normal Half-Life remain, except for the option to play the single player game.

Next is a list of things that the config files let server administrators modify:

    -Player or suit characteristics

    -Glide Offhand grappling hook settings

-Rune settings, including cloaking amount and disabling them.

    -Damage amounts for weapons

-Ability to enable/disable weapons from the game

    -Starting weapons

    -Starting ammo

    -Max ammo amounts

-Amount of ammo recieved from each ammo item

-Amount of ammo that comes with each weapon

    -Magazine size for each weapon

    -Respawn times for items/ammo/weapons

-All colors of lasers or trails

    -Weapon priority and auto switching

    -Weapon recoil

   -Weapon fire rates

    -Projectile speeds

-Amount of points for kills, suicides, etc.

    -Blood amounts

    -And More!

The Glide Offhand Grappling Hook:

The Glide offhand grappling hook is a new weapon/tool that offers players a new mode of transportation.  Used with the command, "+hook", it fires a projectile out that will stick into walls and pull the player towards it.  You can even "hang" at the end point, letting people set up unique ambushes.  If you happen to grapple a player, it will deal some damage and then release.  Instructions for how to bind the command to a key:

1.  Bring down the console by hitting the tilde key ( ~ ).

2.  Type "bind x +hook".  You may put any key you wish in for x.

3.  Hit the tilde key ( ~ ) again so the console goes away.

4.  As long as you hold your bound key ( x in this case) the grapple will fire and drag you to where it's stuck.   If you release the bound key the grapple will disapear so you can fire it again.

Oz also features 5 power up runes. These runes give players special abilities:

- Regeneration - your health and armor will continually rise.

- Haste - your weapons will fire twice as fast.

- Cloaking - you become semi invisible, "Predator" style.

- Crowbar - your crowbar has "one hit kill" capability!

- Frag - you gain extra points for each frag.

- Protection - you take half damage.

- Low Gravity - you can jump higher, further, and take less falling damage.

- Super Hook - your grapple does more damage, flys faster, and pulls faster.

- Vampire - you gain one health for every two damage you deal.

- Booby Trap - if you're killed by someone besides yourself you will explode, taking others with you!

- Super Glock - gives your glock unlimited ammo and makes the secondary fire a deadly sniper mode.

- Super Speed - boosts your running speed to nearly double the velocity.

- Identify - players under your crosshair have their health/armor/current rune revealed.

- Random - constantly morphs into any of the available runes on the server.

You can drop a rune with the "droprune" command, used just like the offhand grappling hook.

You may check on which rune you currently have using the "runestatus" command.

Oz also supports the fabulous Rho Bot. Refer to the Rho Bot's webpage for more information on it's use and capabilities.

More things are continually being added.  You can find out what's next on the list on the release page here.
