Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!
I have finally updated or "backdated" the website
This is an html version of Will Stallwood's original Oz Deathmatch Site from 1998.

I have had to cutout the cool rollover effects present on the original site as they don't seem to work properly in our current browsers -sorry, Will
I will try and update the rest of the site so it will run. I think Oz deserves it after still being played 26 years later. :)

Oz 3.01 for Linux and Windows servers is now available in time for Valve's mandatory transition to Steam.

This is not a full release with changes in features. It is an interim release to correct the bot problems caused by Steam and to implement the new steam player ID system. There have been some code changes that may fix some hard to duplicate crashing problems.

I want to thank Scott from Rhobot for his indispensible help. And thanks to Iggy and Cannon for the use of their servers to test the non- *nix server DLLs.

Things have been very slow for me in a way. I am in the process of moving, so have been very busy for the last month making all kinds of arrangements and such. That is also to say, that I have not gotten very far with the help files for the Config Creator. Once this move is finished and we are set, I might have it all finished. I am working off my laptop right now, but I have all the files and programs that I need, so in my spare time, I will do what work I can. Thanks for all those who have tried it out, and I hope to make it worth your time.

On a side note, I am having problems with the load file feature which I discovered the night before I posted it, so I just disabled it with the intent of fixing it later. I am working on it, and I will get it working.

Ok, Beta 0.0.1 is ready for public testing. To use this you will need the .Net framework ver. 1.1 from Microsoft. It does support XP Themes, and will hopefully run under any version of windows. I only have windows XP, so was only able to test it on that. You can grab it by going to the downloads page and clicking on the link or clicking here. Please use and abuse it so I can find out what bugs I missed and get them fixed.

On a side note, I will not be at home for the next few days, as I am dealing with a family emergency in Florida and have to beg, borrow, and steal internet access, but I promise to get back to anyone that E-mails me as soon as I can.

Sorry for the lack of updates, but life has been busy. I am finished with school now, but will be moving June 1st. So things will still be a little chaotic.

The main reason for this update is to announce the OZ Config Creator. It is almost finished. I started this project awhile back, and have since restarted it. I have completely re-written it in C#, and I would say it is about 90% done. I just have a little bit of tweeking to do. There are a few screen shots posted on the screenshot page.

Oz 3.1 is now in development.

Starbreaker is working with the Mappers to fix teamplay issues and add some new features to Oz Teamplay.

I am currently working on improving the Rho-Bot AI to make the bots more realistic and intelligent.

I am following the development of Cheating-Death anti-cheat software as it is being incorporated into the United Admins program. This means that we may be able to add more anti-cheat software directly into Oz Deathmatch hopefully in the next build!

I also want to express thanks to the growing number of players who enjoy and support Oz Deathmatch!

Oz version 3 is now available for download!

Go to the download page for the links. I have also zipped up the text files that come with the package, in case you might want to peruse them before downloading.

I highly recommend that server admins update to this version as soon as possible. There are a ton of fixes and improvements. Metamod is now compatible. Adminmod works, but is not 100 percent stable with the bot versions of Oz. If you are running an Oz CTF server, do NOT upgrade as this latest build has no CTF support.

Jammer has made a new version of Infinity that supports the CTF entities, so we'll be including about 16 .dat file with Oz so you can play capture the flag on some of the more common deathmatch maps. Imagine stalkyard or even boot_camp as CTF maps! Clients won't need to download CTF specific maps! We will also have a Linux version for all those non-Microshaft people out there :-)

Oz CTF is coming along nicely. Expect 1.7 in about 2 weeks. Make sure you check out the Infinity site, they have a new Oz Help page up. There are also a few screenshots on the Screenshots page of the Fire and Ice bases in Oz CTF. If you'd like to help with the mapping, please contact us.

The Linux build is on it's way! Thanks to Sojyn, a new member of the Oz team, we should be able to keep you non-Microsoft people happy. Oz has taken on a new game mode for 1.7: Capture the Flag! It is almost completely server-side, except for a few models and the maps (you can still play on deathmatch and teamplay servers without downloading anything). Eventually, we hope to use the Infinity mod to make CTF maps out of deathmatch maps. We are very far along in the CTF development, so expect 1.7 soon.

Version 1.6 of Oz Deathmatch has been released! Head over to the downloads page to pick up the Oz16.zip file. Remember, v1.6 now supports the .dat files produced by the Infinity mod, and has new rune spawning code that will resolve many of the crashes that servers had before. The installer will be coming soon, as well as the Linux version of 1.5. Additionally, don't forget to check out the RandomOZer at the Infinity website. It allows server admins to randomize their configuration files with ease. Enjoy!

I hope everyone had a nice "candy filled" holiday. We're gearing up for the 1.6 release, which will correspond with the release of the Infinity map editing mod. The Infinity site is accessible from our links page, so get over there! Additionally, we'd like to introduce our new Official Oz Deathmatch Server Administrator, Dawg, who runs the Dawg's Oz Deathmatch server. The server IP is 24.93.15.47:27015. Make sure you stop by, but beware, it's usually full 24/7.
